TUART Hill resident Sue Scudds may have refereed more than 6000 volleyball games but that doesn’t stop her from over achieving.

The recently retired world record holder has been named a finalist in the inaugural Diabetes Sweet Talk Awards.

Launched during Diabetes Week in July, the awards provide the opportunity for people with diabetes to share their success stories and inspire others who may also be affected.

Mrs Scudds, is one of three finalists in the Senior Achiever of the Year category and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1976.

She has refereed volleyball at International, National, State and local level over a 35-year period.

Winners will be announced on World Diabetes Day on November 14.
