A FOOTBALL club is under investigation after a stripper was hired to perform for the team minutes before a game.

In the latest sex drama to engulf the sporting world, Prahran has been ordered to appear before the Victorian Amateur Football Association's integrity sub-committee tonight to explain the sordid stunt.

The change-room strip show angered women's lobby groups and is set to turn the spotlight on Aussie Rules after rugby league's week of shame.

Prahran Club XVIII coach Craig Berger said a former player organised the stripper to perform about 30 minutes before a night match against St Bernard's on May 1.

"One of the past players set it up to gee up some of the blokes who were struggling a bit, to stir them up a bit," he said.

Mr Berger said he first became aware of the stunt when the stripper came into the trainers' room.

"The stripper came in and I heard some noise (in the change room) and she was asking for music," Mr Berger said.

"I walked in, and when I realised what was going on I said, 'What's going on here?' and then left the room. They (the players) were fully aware that I wasn't happy about it.

"I think she was only there for a couple of minutes. Only a couple of the guys actually knew about it . . . it didn't last long at all because they knew I wasn't happy about it."

Why are people so hypocritical? The women jumping up and down about this is easier to understand. But the men??? How many haven't been to a strip club, party, bucks turn, or other event with a stripper or two present? How many of them complained then? Why then should ANYBODY care if this women performed in the change room in exchange for payment of a fee. It's her job for goodnes sake, and it was a private function. I don't play footy, but I struggle to undertand why everyone is giving them such a hard time. The minute someone is classified as a footy player, are they supposed to view the world through feminist coloured glasses??? Why hassle the footy players and not the stripper. The boys are just being boys in the privacy of the club room; isn't she the one letting down the sisterhood???? Grow up people let people live their lives as they choose, provided they are not hurting anyone else. No one has been harmed here. Move on.
