SWAN Districts young gun Stephen Coniglio is making an impact in the AFL Under-18 Championships.
Coniglio (16), from Swan View, has averaged 20 disposals and one goal a game in the first three games of the tournament to be one of WA’s outstanding performers.
He dominated WA’s 115-point thrashing of Queensland and was among the side’s best on ground in its defeats of South Australia and Victoria Country.
Coniglio’s father Sandro Coniglio said he was proud of his son, who is also a highly accomplished young cricketer.
“We’re very proud of him. He’s a pretty disciplined kid, so when he puts his mind to something he really goes well,” he said.
“Probably in a year’s time he’ll need to make a decision. But he’s just trying to enjoy both sports for now and do the best he can.”
WA ends its campaign with a clash against Victoria Metro at Etihad Stadium on Sunday June 30.
