Comments:

SEVEN of the district’s top junior softballers are heading to Sydney in the New Year for the under-16 national titles.

Willetton Wildcats and assistant state coach Peter Byrne said he was happy with the squad’s form and progress leading up to the nationals.

“We’re all looking forward to it. The squad has been training since July and they are starting to gel,” he said.

The squad will go into the tournament with some experience, with Willetton Baseball Club Wildcats quartet Jessica Clarke, Lauren Lange, Emily Watson and Larissa Bennell entering their second tilt at the national championships.

It will be the first nationals for Emmilee Blowers (Thornlie Hawks), Courtney Muggridge (Canning Cougars) and Renee Wells (Breakaways).
