Humbling experience

15/Dec/2009

Comments:

BULLCREEK-Leeming Amateur Football Club players proved they were more adept with the bat than the ball on the weekend during a Christmas 20/20 match with the Leeming Spartans Cricket Club.

The match was held in blistering heat at John Connell Reserve on Sunday and the Spartans got away to a flying start after opting to bat first.

Todd Lavender smashed a quick-fire 37 and Paul Kalleske top scored for the Spartans with 42 on their way to being bowled out for 129.

2009 co-captains Paul Petkovich and Darren Humble opened the batting, with Humble carrying his bat through the innings and remaining not out on 67.

With Trent Ovens also adding 32 runs, the local football club beat the local cricket club at their own game, scoring 3/131 and winning the match.

Man of the match was Bullcreek-Leeming opener Darren Humble.
