IN what is thought to be a WA first, leading WA developer Desmar Holdings Pty Ltd is championing an unusual fundraising project for Variety WA.
The project is the construction of a unique charity commercial complex in Bibra Lake.
Based on the traditional charity home concept, Desmar Holdings will generously underwrite the construction of a 321sqm office and 1224sqm warehouse commercial complex with support from LandCorp.
Suppliers and tradesmen have already pledged their support through the donation or discount of products and labour.
All net proceeds will be donated to Variety WA, the organisation that empowers children in need to live, laugh and learn.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 2, at the Bibra Lake site. The building is due for completion in June.
Desmar managing director Mark Taddei said his company was proud to be leading the project and was thrilled to be able to support Variety WA’s valuable work.
Variety WA CEO Michael Pailthorpe said funds from the sale of the property would be used to purchase tangible equipment and provide practical services to enrich the lives of WA children in need.
“The support we have received from Mark, his wife Deseree and the team at Desmar has been wonderful,” he said.
“We are greatly indebted to everyone involved for their vision and commitment in creating this philanthropic project.”
