Reflux

Comments:

I thought I had dodged the bullet when it came to nausea in this pregnancy.

Sure, I felt a little bit off when I was tired early on and kept a supply of dry crackers handy for just such a purpose, but my good fortune has caught up with me.

Reflux has reared its ugly head. Or may be it was a stomach bug. Whatever.

I just don’t ever want to experience that again.

It all started with a lazy Wednesday night and a new pizza coupon in the mail.

I am NEVER EVER eating pizza again.

I was fine on Wednesday night, but Thursday I wasn’t feeling too hot.

After eating lunch (my usual spud) it was just going downhill fast and I had to go home.

That night was agony I got horrible stomach cramps plus that burning sensation in my chest, which didn’t do anything like going away after I lost everything I’d eaten for the past week (or so it seemed).

The next day I rang my doctor.

His secretary gave me some handy tips on what to avoid and what usually went down okay.
Potato, apparently, is really bad for reflux.

Great. My lunch time staple for the past few months was out the window with everything else I want to eat.

Since then I’ve subsisted on a diet of pumpkin soup, boiled rice and honey toast.

Thankfully, I’ve been feeling a little better, because I don’t know how I could get through two-and-a-half months on that fare.
