POPULAR Welsh singer and host of BBC's Songs Of Praise Aled Jones will return to WA to delight local fans with a concert at Burswood Theatre on Thursday, August 26.
Q. Hello Aled. We hear that you have a badly injured knee – is it on the mend and will you still be alright for your Australian tour?
A. Of course I'll be alright - nothing would stop me coming back to my second home! I’ve ruptured my cruciate ligament but it doesn’t stop me from singing!
Q. What can your Perth fans look forward to in your coming concert?
A. Lots of music from my adult CDs - a real mixed bag from musical theatre to hymns to anthems like You Raise Me Up. I may also throw in a few standards!
Q. You wear so many hats (singer, broadcaster, television presenter, actor, author, dancer and more), what motivates you to work so hard and always seek new challenges?
A. School fees! No, seriously, I love the variety of what I do - it keeps it all fresh.
Q. You recently signed a new record deal with label Demon Music Group. As a champion of religious music, surely you haven’t now joined the opposition?
A. You're the first to know! Actually, I will be releasing on my own named record label, which will be called How Great Records - after the favourite hymn How Great Thou Art. You’re right, demons are probably a bit much for my stuff!
Q. What would be a good phrase to learn for someone visiting a Welsh-speaking part of Wales?
A. “Gai beint o gwrw os gwelwch yn dda?” which means “Can I have a pint of beer please?”.
